Porter Elementary is excited to celebrate a new grant awarded to our Physical Education program through the Blount County Education Foundation!
The “Up, Up & Play! Elevating Physical Education: 9 Square in the Air & Super Soft Volleyball Initiative” grant will provide new equipment designed to make physical education and structured recess even more engaging, inclusive, and fun for our students.
As part of the grant, our PE program will receive super-soft, oversized volleyballs to enhance our volleyball unit. The larger, softer balls will give students a more approachable way to develop their volleyball skills while helping build confidence and encouraging participation.
According to PE Coach Loxy Bell, “This grant will help enhance our volleyball unit and help build the confidence of all of our students by using super-soft and oversized volleyballs.”
The grant will also provide 9 Square in the Air, an exciting activity that will be incorporated into structured recess. The game will give students another opportunity to stay active while practicing teamwork, coordination, and positive interaction with their classmates.
We are grateful to the Blount County Education Foundation for supporting Porter Elementary and investing in opportunities that help our students stay active, build confidence, and discover new ways to play and learn.
Up, up, and play, Panthers!
